Xiaokun Shu博士: A Rationally Designed Fluorogenic Frotease Reporter Visualizes Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Apoptosis in Vivo

Xiaokun Shu博士,2000年毕业于四川大学物理系,获学士学位;2003年在复旦大学获固态物理学硕士学位;2007年毕业于University of Oregon,获得生物物理学博士学位;之后在University of California - San Diego从事博士后研究,任研究助理;其后在Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California at San Francisco担任助理教授。

His education background and research experience are diverse, from Physics, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, Cell & Molecular Biology, and recently Developmental Biology. In general,his group applies Physics, Chemistry and Engineering to develop technologies and to answer biological questions. Currently they are focusing on developing these biological tools: 1) cell signaling reporters such as kinases and proteases; 2) new methods in identifying weak and transient protein-protein interactions; 3) new technologies in visualizing spatiotemporal dynamics of protein-protein interactions. They are also applying these technologies to study ubiquitinproteasome system, animal development and tumorigenesis. He successfully administered two projects (e.g. staffing, research protections, budget), collaborated with other researchers, and produced three peer-reviewed publications, one accepted and one under review.
