Abstract:

Chronic pain is a major health issue in human society caused mainly by tissue or nerve injury. The common pathological conditions include spontaneous pain, allodynia and hyperalgesia. Peripheral sensitization and central plasticity are likely to contribute to chronic pain. The long-term change of the synaptic transmission under chronic pain has been studied along the sensory pathway, and PKM zeta has been treated as a new target for chronic pain treatment. And how the enhanced synaptic transmission affects information coding, especially the temporal information coding will be discussed.
